What’s the challenge?
In this thrilling challenge, you will dive into the world of statistics from the 4TU.ResearchData repository. Once you register, we’ll provide instructions on how to access the data and submit your work.
How to participate?
The tool of choice for this challenge is R! You must upload your visualizations along with the R code that brought them to life, accompanied by a brief description of your project. The rest is limited only by your imagination!
When’s the deadline?
9th October 2023, 12PM
You’ll have two weeks to submit your visualizations before the showcase event on October 11th from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM. During this event, you’ll present your work, and we’ll feature an engaging keynote speech while announcing the challenge winners!
Where do you work?
You can craft your visualizations at your own pace and in your own space. However, the showcase event, where you present your work will be hosted in the inviting Orange Room at the TU Delft Library.

Grading Criteria
Here are the main criteria we will use to grade the data visualizations.

Showcase agenda
All the participants of the Plot-a-thon are invited to participate in the Showcase event. During this event, you’ll present your work, and we’ll feature an engaging keynote speech while announcing the challenge winners!

Short keynote speech about data visualisations in R.

During the break we will vote for our favorite visualizations!
Awards Ceremony (4:15 PM - 4:30 PM)
Announcement of the jury pick for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. We will also reveal the audience pick winner!
Meet & mingle (4:30 PM - 6:30 PM)
Networking event
The first edition of the R Café Plot-a-thon was a success! The event kicked off with a keynote lecture by Roel Janssen on some of the quirks of the R programming language, followed by presentations by each of the participants.
Prizes were awarded to the winners and the day was wrapped-up with a networking event and a lot of R-talk!
